It is a strange tension to be both happy you are here, visiting this site, while knowing it is likely because you’ve lost, or will soon lose, someone you love.

What an honor that you wish to remember them, but what a tremendous sadness that you must do so.

This tension– finding joy, pride, and reflective remembrances in grief- imbues all of my work as an obituarist.
